In Northern Ireland we have seen a significant increase in the diagnosis of ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) in recent years with the prevalence now 1 in every 20 children. Unfortunately only 21.7% of work aged autistic people are currently in the workforce due to the many barriers that they face. (2022, Prevalence of Autism in School aged children, DHSSPS).
We at Next Step Transitions work with our young autistic people to enable them overcome the many barriers they face in order to feel confident, fully informed and supported so they can make a successful transition to the next stage of their learning journey.
Providing a full holistic programme that will meet the requirements of young autistic people we work with requires significant funding. If your company is interested in supporting young autistic people to ensure they can transition smoothly and therefore overcome some of the barriers that stand in their way to achieve their full potential then we would appreciate your help and sponsorship. As brokers for social value we may be able to help your company achieve your social value targets.
We have three different levels of programme sponsorship which are: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Platinum Programme
The Platinum Programme would allow Next Step Transitions to be able to offer 100 hours of Transition support to young autistic people and their parent/carers who have signed up to the NST Transitions Programme. This would allow these young people to avail of a range of opportunities that meet their individual requirements, for example.
- Introducing the young autistic people and their parents/carers to the programme.
- Working with the school to access the full information about the support the young person already receives and what might be useful for moving forward.
- Getting to know the young person and their individual requirements.
- Organising the attendance at open days or tours.
- Liaising with other support services that might be useful to the young person.
- Advocating for the young person in transition meetings.
- Linking with local employers to ascertain relevant work experience or employment opportunities.
- Providing relevant, timely advice and guidance in relation to careers, courses and support available such as DSA.
- Attending needs assessments with institutions as and when required.
Gold Programme
The Gold Programme would allow Next Step Transitions to be able to offer 75 hours of Transition support to young autistic people and their parent/carers who have signed up to the NST Transitions Programme. This would allow these young people to avail of a range of opportunities that meet their individual requirements, for example.
Silver Programme
The Silver Programme would allow Next Step Transitions to be able to offer 50 hours of Transitions help to young autistic people and their parent/carers who have signed up to the NST Programme. This would allow these young people to access a range of opportunities that meet their individual requirements.
Bronze Programme
The Bronze programme would allow Next Step Transitions to be able to offer 25 hours of Transitions help to young autistic people and their parent/carers who have signed up to the NST programme.
